Today seems to be the longest day in the history of Sanctuary. It began at 4:22 am when we had to swiftly pack our bedding in the middle of a Chinese worship service and after two long flights and an extended bus ride...we're still going! The beginning of a typical day for them. Arrival at LAX went smoothly and we had several hours to spare in the airport terminal; we discovered, after passing through security, that no reasonable restaurants existed and we slept, gamed, and texted and called our loved ones for the last time before departure. The plane ride was long, as suspected, but the airline was impressive in friendliness, comfort, and entertainment capabilities, making our overall experience a pretty amazing one. The drama hit us one hour outside Santiago when our faithful travel bus broke down on the freeway. We puttered along several exits before finally pausing to switch buses, bus drivers, and renew our determination! Praise God for no one lost luggage, passports, or had any other crazy international travel hangups on our way to Rancagua. Tonight we have scheduled dinner with the mayor of Rancagua and all of us are pretty excited for the opportunity. We're finally in Chile and I think it is finally beginning to sink in. We are learning to appreciate the differences between cultures across nations and even across church families and loving every minute.
